Ponglaang Kalasin: North-East (Esan) Melody (2252)

Really great tape of rollicking pong lang. Lots of cool instrumental Isan grooves here but it's the appearance of familiar classics like 500 MILES and YOU CHEA-IN HEART (Khun Hank!) that nudge things into an especially unique dimension. Both electric organ and wah guitar show up to add their energy. Music for the good times.

awesome! i think this group is called "pong lang kalasin" (at least that's what is say's on the cover.. always hard to tell whether they mean it as a group name of a musical description, heh)

also i noticed a mistake in the printing of the tracklist... on side A, track 8 is just "500 miles", and track 9 on side B is not "arisan", but "a-ba-ni-bi"

thanks peter! yeah, the track listing on the tape cover is confusing to say the least. that's funny about "a-ba-ni-bi" on side b... vaguely recognizing the melody i was wondering what the tune was... imho the pong lang version is a big improvement over the original. good stuff.

Very peculiar. Rather unlike the traditional music you've been posting. This actually grooves!
